Versant Voyager. 10th Annual Versant Client Conference. November 1. 7- 1. Competency- Driven Excellence: Patient Safety, Organizational Capacity, Economic Benefit, and Sustainability. CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTSWatch Now. Our 1. 0th Annual Client Conference, held in November just a short distance from our nation’s capital, was a great success! Our theme was “Competency- Driven Excellence: Patient Safety, Organizational Capacity, Sustainability, and Economic Benefit.” Throughout the conference, participants were offered an in- depth exploration into how an organization can achieve excellence from a competency- perspective and the benefits the organization will see when it does so. We had a chance to collaborate, network, and problem- solve as a part of a larger nursing community. It is always so impressive to see the passion and desire to improve nursing in each of our attendees and presenters. We’d like to thank everyone who joined us for the conference and helped make this event such a success. During the opening remarks, Mike Carman pointed out 4. On average, one out of three patients will find themselves harmed during a medical stay. Many investigations will seek the root cause of these incidents, and many policies will be changed as a result. However, none will be as far- reaching or change as many policies as the investigation into a single- fatality plane crash. By collectively working together, we can provide a far- reaching solution to many of the problems facing health care today. Our guest speakers were inspiring as they offered insight into the conference theme. Speakers included Kathy Chappell, Ph. D, RN, Vice President, Accreditation Program and Institute for Credentialing Research Organization, American Nurses Credentialing Center; Marie Manthey, BSN, MNA, FRCN, FAAN, Ph. D (hon.), Founder and President Emeritus, Creative Health Care Management; Bonnie Barnes, FAAN, Co- founder and President, The DAISY Foundation; Gwen Sherwood, Ph. D, RN, FAAN, Professor and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; Patricia Yoder- Wise, RN, Ed.

D, NEA- BC, ANEF, FAAN, President, The Wise Group and Professor, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing; and Elaine Scott, Ph. D, RN, NE- BC, Associate Professor, Director of East Carolina Center for Nursing Leadership, East Carolina University. These national thought leaders gave “TED”- style talks on a wide variety of topics, ranging from interprofessional education to mindful learning. Attendees found recurring themes in their speeches as they spoke of the problems facing nursing, the importance of accountability in recognizing those problems, and recommendations for resolutions. The quality of the poster presentations was impressive; the topics featured were as informative as they were interesting. Breakout sessions offered the opportunity for attendees to gain deeper insight into the work and best practices of their colleagues within the Versant community. Online continuing education program. With the RN Residency’s focus on outcomes, it’s no wonder that so many participants had so much valuable information to share. We were pleased that many resident alumni attended our conference. The “Residency Spotlight: Excellence and Outcomes” panel featured alumni interviewed by individuals who had helped provide the support needed for success in their chosen profession. The panel was modeled after National Public Radio’s Story. Corps and offered the resident alumni a chance to share their professional journeys, trials, and tribulations in an interview format. In honor of nursing and in celebration of the National Day of Listening (a day of observance where Americans are encouraged to record the stories of their communities), we submitted these interviews to Story. Corp’s Wall of Listening. All five of these interviews can heard at http: //diy. Prepare to be inspired! Alumni also had the opportunity to participate in a series of short “Minute to Win it”- style competitions at our special alumni event. The doors may have been closed, but the laughter was surely heard echoing through the halls. Attendees had a chance to do some sightseeing on a Versant- provided moonlight bus tour of Washington, D. C. Although the weather was somewhere between cold and bone- chilling, it was a great chance to visit the illuminated landmarks and monuments of our nation’s capital. Of special relevance was the Vietnam Women’s Memorial, located on the National Mall. The monument recognizes the women who served in the Vietnam War, a large majority of whom served as nurses. A picture of the monument can be found on our Facebook page, “Versant RN Residencies”. Before the end of the conference, milestone awards were presented to several of our clients based on the longevity of our relationship, including our first- ever “1. Year Award” which was presented to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. We know how devoted our clients are to providing competency- driven excellence, and we relish sharing in their successes. The conference also provided a great opportunity for us to share more about Versant II, the term we have chosen to describe the fundamental improvements we are making to better serve our clients. Versant II demonstrates that although our methods may be changing, our goals and mission have stayed consistent. Over the past ten years, we have made a great deal of progress in our mission and we look forward to growing with you into 2. In honor of conference participants, we are pleased to announce that a $1. Hi- Desert Medical Center . For expectant parents it.
